Restorations Process Pt 3 (Restoring Identity)
To restore is to bring back to a former condition, purpose, and owner. There are souls attached to each believer’s life. If you are born again, you have been restored. This has affected your identity.
Internal damage. May God restore you from the inside out. Although a car may be deemed not worth restoring, you are. He can restore your reputation, your life, or your health. God is in the restoration process. It does not matter what you have done. He will bring you back into a right relationship with Him.
If you do not know who you are, you will not walk according to what God has chosen for your life. God wants to bring us to a place where, no matter what, we will retain our identity. If there are mistakes that you may have made.
We are in an identity crisis. Our identity determines what we decide to do and who we hang around.
Matt 5.13-16
Certain things do not get our attention because of who we are.
Believers in Christ are the salt and light of the world. Identity is declared before it is demonstrated. True identity does not have to prove that it is something that it already is. The function of your doing comes from your being. Whatever Jesus identified Himself as, He demonstrated it with His actions and behavior.
He is the Bread of Life and then fed the 5K. He said that He is the resurrection and then raised Lazarus from the dead.
In our culture, it is very easy to identify as something that we are not. Pretending to be something that you’re not is deceiving yourself. In the kingdom, your identity is not selected; it is given. We cannot shop for our identity. It has been selected and chosen for you. Your identity is secure in Christ. We have to be secure in what God has called us to be.
We have to discover our purpose, not choose our purpose. It comes from outside of ourselves. If you want to know who you are, do not turn to social media or other people. Turn to your Creator. Do not look on the outside, look inward. Just be.
The enemy wants to delay your purpose as long as he can so that you will not hinder his purposes. You have to come to the knowledge and understanding of who you are.
You have to learn who you are, and you will know who you are supposed to be connected to.
Salt means to be a purifier or Christian flavor in the earth. Salt was used as a preservative. Christians must act as a preservative on the earth. It slows down the death and decay of the Earth. What is to be preserved: God’s values, kingdom values, truth, morality, righteousness. Integrity. We are not called to sit quietly and watch the earth go to hell in a handbasket. We are called to move out into the world. This is not just about our homes and church. It involves the world.
Light eliminates darkness. We have to be nice to shine your light. We have to shine everywhere we find ourselves. We must reflect the light of Christ to a dark world. It is not us that they are attracted to. With identity comes influence. You have been called to be a kingdom influencer. Do not lose your influence. Do not let it be contaminated by outside influences. We cannot compromise our influence.
Salt and light cannot go unnoticed when it is darkness.
Today God restores your identity.
