Explaining the Trinity (Part 1)
The first three books tell the same story, but from different perspectives. They are known as the Synoptic Gospels. John's Gospel is asynoptic, meaning it differs from the first three books. It is not a photo from a distance; it is actually a close-up of Jesus' life.
John's Gospel says that Jesus is the Son of God and that He has provided a way to eternal life through Him. As you read the Bible, the Holy Spirit provides specific information to you. We must study the Word of God with diligence.
Thomas the Apostle did not show up when the other Apostles gathered, so he missed some things. Jesus appeared while he was not there. Jesus reappeared and told Thomas to examine Him.
God wants us to believe and not just feel. The primary word in John is ‘love’, along with the word ‘know'. Once we know, we move on to believing. We have to thrive to survive.
Differences between the Three Monotheistic Religions.
Christianity
Christians believe that Jesus died, was crucified and buried, and He rose.
Judaism
Jews believe Jesus died, but did not rise from the dead. Some believe His body was stolen.
Islam
Muslims do not believe Jesus died or rose. Direct quote from the Quran:
“We killed the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, the messenger of Allah.” But they neither killed nor crucified him—it was only made to appear so. Even those who argue for this ˹crucifixion˺ are in doubt. They have no knowledge whatsoever—only making assumptions. They certainly did not kill him. (Surah An-Nisa 4:157)
