My Mama Made Me Do It
Thank God for Moms. You do not have to be down on yourself because of your children.
Jesus and his mother were invited to a wedding. Do you realize that Jesus was a social Jesus? The parents of the groom and bride create the match. This engagement is a contractual relationship. A dowry was paid for the bride because there would be a loss in the bride’s family from her work and income. Then the groom's family had to pay again. They had to pay for the entire wedding.
The intention of God's word is to create a better situation for our lives. Notice that Mary was observant. She noticed the saturation with the wine. At a Jewish wedding, if the family ran out of food or drink, it would be a shame on the family. Jesus asked, “What does it have to do with us?” In essence, he asked what he was supposed to do about it.
Mary knew her son. She obviously had influence over Him. He gives the command to fill water pots with water and to immediately draw the wine out. He did not speak to the pots of water. He did not lay his hand on the pots, and He did not test it. It was ready to consume.
Jesus just did what He was supposed to do. We have to follow suit. Just do what God tells you to do. Sometimes we add unnecessary activities to our walk.
Mother's intuition. A documented psychological study that says mothers have a gut-level knowledge of something about the child. It's a connection of the mother with the child, even in vitro. Mary's voice is probably the first voice Jesus heard. John leaped at the sound of her voice. It matters what children in vitro hear.
Mary watched Jesus grow. She held him in her arms. She knew his habits. She knew him. He was used to hearing Mary's voice, instruction, and wisdom.
Our known directive is to go to Christ and do what He says. At some point,we must realize that there is no life without Christ, and that is no life at all.
